I feel like this picture captures the essence of riding public in the DR. The guy with a death wish is called a cobrador; he’s in charge of making change and getting new passengers. It’s good to know an old fashion thumbs-up transcends cultures.

    I believe it capture “an” essence, but not quite “the” essence. You’re missing the amount of people inside the gua-gua, somebody arguing with the cobrador how much they paid, and a random person with a chicken. And wouldn’t it be cool if you could capture the smell? Maybe not. ;)
