Today at the Makarios School teachers and students alike celebrated Dia de la Raza, or “Day of the Race”. Here in the Dominican Republic this celebration pays tribute to the native Taino Indians who inhabited the island when Christopher Columbus discovered it. We celebrated it by dressing up in cute outfits, discussing the history of the Taino Indians, and parading around the school. It was a great day!
